Sociology is part of social sciences as well as humanities and employs both qualitative and quantitative approaches and under each utilises a wide range of methods of empirical study and critical analysis to produce a unique body of knowledge about intricacies connected to structuring the society and the social processes and transformation that occurs in it.
This Special Issue investigates into what sparked a golden era of knowledge and discovery across the Muslim world from the 8th to the 14th centuries and how Muslim scholars pursued advancements in science, medicine, philosophy, culture, and the arts which are a timeless and precious heritage and how these achievements transformed the world forever. The global transformation on the back of Muslim scholarly advancements and achievements contributed enormously to modernity which Western scholars of “modernity” rarely if ever acknowledge and the Special Issue is designed to change this albeit marginally.
Considering this, the Special Issue is aptly entitled Sociology of the Islamic Golden Age. It denotes the study of the social structures, cultural practices, religious values and rituals, economic processes, and political activities that characterized Muslim societies during their period of intellectual and cultural thriving.
