Thank you 2022; Welcome 2023!

December 28, 2022

We wish all our members a wonderful holiday season! We thank you all for your commitment to AAIMS and for continually sharing your wonderful achievements with us. We also thank you for all you’ve done to help us grow in 2022 and are excited to begin the new year with you again!

Throughout 2022, we have shared member publications and achievements across our social media platforms and our new and improved website, and we continue to encourage you to share your achievements with us through our hashtag #sharewithaaims.

In early March, we received submissions for our Riaz Hassan Honours prize, and we’ve had some great theses come through. The winner for the prize will be announced soon! We thank everyone who submitted their honours thesis for consideration. We value scholarship that emerges from the field of Islamic Studies and it is an honour to cherish the scholarship legacy of Riaz Hassan himself who played an instrumental role in the development of AAIMS as a thriving association for scholars in this field.

In August we hosted a Grant-Making workshop, facilitated by Professor Sarah Phillips from the University of Sydney. We thank everyone who attended the event and benefited from the workshop. If you have suggestions for future workshops you’d like to see from us, please do email us at info@aaims.org.au.

In September, we launched a new website with exclusive member benefits! This new website features exciting new content and pages that benefit our members directly. You can also update your profile to increase your academic visibility across the field of Islamic Studies. The website also allows you to ask questions in our new member forum feature, so if you have something to share or something to say, head on over to our Member Forum to get some exciting discussions going!

Earlier this month we hosted an Islamic Studies Postgraduate conference. We thank everyone who attended the event and benefitted from the program. We hope the conference sparked an interest in Islamic Studies – and the field of humanities in general – and we hope to see you tune into another one of our conferences in the future!

We wish you all a lovely new year,
